Dreams FC have qualified for the quarterfinal of the 2024 CAF Confederation Cup.
The Still Believe lads book their place in the next round of the competition despite their 2-1 defeat to Rivers United in their final group game on Sunday.
Dreams’ qualification was confirmed following Club Africain’s draw against AC Lobito in the other group game.
Abdul Aziz Issah opened the scoring for the Ghanaian side after the 40th-minute mark, finishing off a pass from forward John Antwi.
The MTN FA Cup champions went into the break ahead due to the youngster’s strike.
However, the home side found their equaliser minutes after the return from recess.
Echeta Ugonna Deputy netted for Rivers United to tie the score and sway the momentum in the home side’s favour.
Dreams were handed a nightmare in the 81st minute after Seth Agyemang received his marching off orders after his second yellow card in the second half.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw until the Nigerian side snatched a late winner to claim all three points.
By qualifying for the next stage, Dreams FC become the first Ghana Premier League side to reach the knockout round of the CAF Confederation Cup since Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in 2004.
