Lime manufacturing company Carmeuse Lime Products Limited has made a whooping One hundred and Forty-three thousand Ghana Cedi (GH143,000.00) cheque donation to management of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, towards the procurement of a mechanized ventilator.

The donation is in response to a campaign mounted by Skyy Media Group, in partnership with Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, to raise funds for the procurement of a mechanized ventilator.

The mechanized ventilator has been identified as one of the most essential tools in treating seriously ill persons infected by the novel corona virus, and other terminal respiratory conditions.

Unfortunately, the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, which is the Western Region’s only referral center, does not have one.

Presenting the cheque of GHC143,000.00 to the hospital, the General Manager for Carmeuse Lime Product Ltd., Mr. James Kwaku Dadzie stated “Management quickly mobilized funds to support the hospital to purchase one ventilator.”

He explained that the company is much particular about the health and lives of the communities they operate, and as such finds the call as an opportunity to serve and impact. “…after hearing the fact that, the regional hospital wasn’t having any ventilator, and we know that it is a major equipment in fighting this serious coronavirus disease.

It came to us that, well, if there isn’t, then we will have to take it upon ourselves to support the hospital with this. So the Company, Management and Board of Directors decided to get one for the regional hospital so that in case of any serious case of the disease, they could save a life,” he emphasized.

An elated Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joseph Kojo Tambil said the intervention is very substantial, and relieves them of the burden of procuring one ventilator for the hospital in such trying times.

“We welcome this gesture from Carmeuse, with a lot of relief. This is a huge relief for us. Like you are aware, the issue of ventilators have been quiet worrisome. We are most grateful,” he said.

Dr. Tambil promised to fast-track processes in procuring the ventilator, and also adapt an effective maintenance regime to ensure the device remains functional for a longer period.

“The use of ventilator goes beyond the COVID-19. It is something that we will need in an ICU. We believe that this will go a long way to save lives” Dr. Tambil stressed.

He however, prayed that other organisation emulate the gesture in advancing financial resources to procure additional ventilators for the hospital. Executive Director for Skyy Media Group, Adelaide Adwoa Amofah commended Carmeuse Lime Product Limited for their intervention.

She described them as ‘rescuers’ and a ‘passionate giver’; drawing from past and continued support and partnership with the company in promoting the well being of the people in their catchment area, and the region as a whole.

She added that Skyy Media Group maintains a culture of making an impact in societies, and thus proven to be a champion of advocacy and social support for the Western Region.
