Singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to two charges of assaulting and threatening his girlfriend, Rihanna. The 19-year-old was arrested in Los Angeles in February after a row with his pop star girlfriend Rihanna on the way to the Grammy award ceremony. In a brief court appearance in Los Angeles, he spoke softly to enter his plea. He faces almost five years in prison if found guilty. Brown is due to return to court again in three weeks' time. The singer said after the incident he was "sorry and saddened" and was seeking counselling. Lamborghini row Rihanna's lawyer, Donald Etra, has said she will testify if called as a witness in the case.The 21-year-old star, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, has not commented on the case or a photo of her injured, on police advice. Brown was arrested on 8 February after the dispute in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles. Both stars cancelled their scheduled appearances at the Grammy Awards shortly afterwards. Court documents detailed how the two got into a fight when Rihanna found a text message from another woman on Brown's phone. He is then accused of trying to force the Umbrella singer out of their rented Lamborghini sports car, shoving her head against the passenger window and repeatedly punching her in the face.
