Highlife singer Rex Omar is calling out to the government to come to the aid of the creative industry by setting up a creative sector.
The ‘Abiba’ singer believes there are so many ministries in the country that are not benefiting to the citizenry but only contribute to outrageous national expenditure.
According to him, should government clampdown some of these dormant ministries and direct resources wasted there to the improvement of the creative arts industry, there will be a massive improvement in the sector.
Speaking on ‘The Real State of the Creative Arts Address’ on Hitz FM on Tuesday, Rex Omar who doubles as the chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) pointed out that there are so many ministries he believes do not merit the expenditure allocated them government.
“As it stands now there are several ministries that are of no need buy there are several amounts going into running them, if the government really cares about our industry, it will put up a whole creative art economy and we will all see what difference that will make to us and to the industry in turn,” he told host Andy Dosty.
Rex believes the creative art fraternity is a broad one which makes it necessary for there to be a minister and his vice.
