Ghana’s Black Satellites Coach, Sellas Tetteh, has charged his team to stay awake after coming from behind to beat Uzbekistan 2-1 in a nerve wracking game at the ongoing FIFA U-20 world Cup in Egypt. Ghana fell behind after 47 minutes and had to rely on late goals from Ransford Osei and Dominic Adiyiah to seal victory. According to Tetteh the players slept too deep and the goal was a wake up call. He told GNA Sports in a post match interview in Ismailia that “the goal was a good omen for the boys. It was a wake up call for the boys and thankfully, the team woke up early enough”. The coach said the team took everything thrown at them by their opponents and unlocked Uzbekistan defensively at the right time to ensure that Ghana keeps a clean sheet in the history of the competition. “First games are often very difficult and they (Uzbekistan) played very defensively. But the boys did their best to bring everything in their wardrobe to win this game”, he added. He, however, defended his decision to star Samuel Inkoom in the game despite the defenders late arrival in camp because of club commitment. “The capabilities of Inkoom and today… he did his best and even though some people might say his best was not good enough, I think he did well.” The Satellites had a slow start to the game although pundits have made them the favourites. They almost had a football shock from the Asians who arrived in Egypt with modest ambitions.
