Communications and Digitalisation Minister Ursula Owusu Ekuful has been summoned to address Parliament on Monday, March 18, shedding light on government's initiatives to resolve the ongoing internet disruptions in the nation.
The persistent interruption in internet connectivity, spanning five days, has sparked widespread frustration among the Ghanaian populace.
Despite the National Communications Authority's projection of a five-week timeline to restore normalcy, Members of Parliament assert the necessity for the Minister to update Ghanaians on the measures being undertaken to rectify the situation.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, underlined the importance of the Minister's briefing, especially in light of continuous updates from telecommunication service providers.
He underscored the critical need to grasp the progress made in addressing the issue, particularly given the potential national security ramifications stemming from multiple submarine fibre optic cable disruptions on the high seas.
