The Danish government has selected the Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) to research into mobile health and other related matters on users.
Dr Osei K. Darkwa, President of GTUC made this known when he inaugurated the Ghana Telecom University College Lecturers Association (GTUCLA) in Accra at the weekend.
He said the advancement of information technology has resulted in the massive use of telecommunication gadgets all over the world hence the need for Africa to look into the health problems they pose.
The President said the university is on the verge of becoming the best Information and Communication Technology (ICT) institution in sub-Saharan Africa.
He appealed to the government to support the college through the Ghana Education Trust Fund to facilitate the completion of new lecture halls, an administration block, cafeteria and ICT centre to enable it admit more students.
Mr Thomas Henaku, Chairman of GTUCLA said members had resolved to achieve the set goals of the institution.
He said the association aims at bringing the concerns and welfare of members on board for redress and also help develop the university community as well as bridge the communication gab between the lecturers and the authorities.
The five-member executive was sworn into office by Dr Darkwa with Mr Thomas Henaku as Chairman and Mr Ganyo Amegashie as Secretary.
