A Despite Group affiliate, Peacefmonline.com has apologised to business mogul Ibrahim Mahama over a story they published about him last week.
It turned out the online portal’s story about the businessman was factually inaccurate.
Subsequently, Mr Mahama threatened to sue them for defaming him.
Describing their source of the publication as “unreliable and inconsistent”, the portal further pulled the story down and apologised to him.
Below is their statement
On June 12, 2019, Peacefmonline.com published a story by Salahu-deen, a member of the now-defunct vigilante group, Delta Force, which detailed and distanced the incarcerated Seidu Yakubu Mba, one of the suspected kidnappers of the two Canadian girls, from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Delta Force.
In the same article, the writer alleged that Seidu has been a member of the National Democratic Congress and had been seen working as a bodyguard for Mr. Ibrahim Mahama when he was battling the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, in court.
Our checks, however, indicates that there were a few factual inaccuracies in the article.
Additionally, the source of that particular article has proven to be unreliable and inconsistent in his accounts, subsequent to the publication of the news item.
Consequently, that story has been retracted and links to it disabled.
Peacefmonline.com apologizes to Mr. Mahama for the harm the publication might have caused him.
