Kpando-based Heart of Lions has extended their lead in the Division One League Zone 3 table to 15 points, after winning the 20th fixture against Koforidua Semper Fi in a 1-0 thriller.
A 38th-minute flick from Samuel Koshie Agbenyegah was enough to secure the home side all 3 points and also take them closer to qualifying for the Premier League.
This was after Heart of Lions failed to find the back of the net in about 5 chances created, dominating the first half.
Koforidua-based Semper Fi couldn't convert a few chances in the latter part of the first half.
They came into the second half stronger but Coach Salifou Fatau’s side which was tactically disciplined gave no chance to the away team.
The half saw a thrilling encounter between the two teams which occupy the first and second positions on the Zone 3 league table.
The officiating team was compelled to call off the fixture in the 78th minute due to a rainstorm, which turned the pitch into a pool of water.
The remaining 12 minutes of the match was played on Monday, with the game ending 1:0 in favour of league leaders, Heart of Lions.
Prince Ofori was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match.
