Bibiani GoldStars produced a dramatic late comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions in Kpando on Sunday their Ghana Premier League week 23 clash, boosting their title ambitions in stunning fashion.
GoldStars are now just three points behind leaders Medeama’s 45 while Lions are on 30 points in 8th.
The hosts made a bright start and were rewarded in the 36th minute when Seedorf Asante broke the deadlock. The forward capitalised on a defensive lapse to fire Heart of Lions into a 1-0 lead, sending the home supporters into celebration.
Lions controlled large spells of the first half and carried their slender advantage into the break, frustrating the defending champions chasing crucial points at the summit.
The visitors, however, emerged from halftime with renewed urgency. Their persistence paid off in the 76th minute as Samuel Attah Kumi found the equaliser, restoring parity and setting up a tense finale.
With momentum swinging in their favour, Gold Stars pushed forward relentlessly in search of a winner.
Deep into stoppage time, Godfred Arthur delivered the decisive blow. Striking in the 95th minute, he silenced the home crowd and completed a remarkable turnaround for the visitors.
Gold Stars will now turn attention to a heavyweight showdown against Hearts of Oak, while Heart of Lions travel to face Holy Stars in their next fixture.
