The Bono Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected murder of a 27-year-old pregnant woman, Haggar Nyorkpatey, at Yaw Wusukrom, a farming community near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District of the region.
According to the police, the deceased, who was seven months pregnant, was murdered on her farm on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The police, in a statement signed by the regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had her throat slit with a sharp object by an unknown assailant(s).
The statement said blood clot was found in the deceased's mouth and ear canal. It added that a foamy particle mixed with blood was also found on the deceased's neck area.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was pregnant, her throat was cut with a sharp object, blood clot was found in the mouth, and ear canal. A foamy particle mixed with blood was also found on the neck area," the statement revealed.
It said a 57-year-old Charles Asante, reported to the Police that on November 6, 2025, at about 8:30 a.m., his younger brother's wife, who was a farmer and seven months pregnant, left for her farm near Yaw Wusukrom and did not return.
The statement explained that a search party was mounted by the community members, and she was found lying on her farm dead.
It said that upon receiving the information, the Police proceeded to the crime scene and found the lifeless body of a woman.
The statement described that the deceased was wearing a multi-coloured dress together with blue trousers with white stripes.
It explained that when the police examined the body, they found out that she was pregnant and her throat was cut with a sharp object.
It said the body had since been deposited at Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while investigation continued to unravel the circumstances that led to the murder of the young pregnant woman.
"Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime," it stated.
