Dun and Bradstreet Credit Reference Bureau has finally commenced operations with a pledge to provide banks and customers more detailed credit data than what is currently offered on the market.
Dun and Bradstreet becomes the third credit reference bureau to enter Ghana after XDS Data and Hudson Price Data Solutions.
Credit Reference Bureaus seek to enhance access to credit by keeping records on the credit history of borrowers which are used by financial institutions to take decisions associated with the granting of loans.
Speaking to Joy Business at the launch of their operations, Managing Director, Evans Sarpong promised they would balance consumer needs with the interest on Banks.
“We would allow customers to access their own reports. So that when they go to the banks and for any reason the banks refuse them their credit reports; they can approach us and request the reports. We are not just serving the financial institutions but also the customers need to be aware in terms of having access to their report" he explained.
"Another good thing is if they feel dissatisfied with the information on their reports they can always dispute it through their banks or the credit bureau” he added.
