Education is the gateway to achieving success in any field of human endeavour, Dr. Joseph S. Annan, the Deputy Minister of Education, has said.
He said this during the launching of extra classes sessions for about 260 junior high students in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem District at Kwahinikrom and Eguafo in preparation for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in April.
Dr. Annan, the Member of Parliament for KEEA, is sponsoring the programme.
The MP said emerging socio-economic trends have shown that without quality, sound and accessible education they would not be able to realize their full potentialities of whatever career they want to pursue in future.
He appealed to the students to take advantage of the extra classes to improve themselves academically.
The programme is designed to improve the BECE results in the district.
Dr Annan commended the teachers for conducting the extra classes free of charge as their contribution to the improvement of education in the district.
About 1,000 students will benefit from the programme which will also be held at Komenda, Sahman, Anwiwomu and Elmina.
He later distributed exercise books to the students.
