Former Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr Stephen Amoah has acknowledged that some aspects of the 2025 Budget presented by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, if effectively implemented, could significantly benefit the country.
He has some reservations, however, about some aspects of the budget.
Mr. Amoah made these comments during an appearance on Newsfile on JoyNews on Saturday, March 15.
He said, "There are many aspects of the budget with which I disagree, but there are a few that, if implemented properly, could help us."
He added, "Let's wait and see. I am not saying this in anticipation of a negative outcome; I want to see the implementation, the fulfilment, and adherence to the plans."
The legislator for Nhyiaeso in Kumasi, Ashanti region also argued that "Some of the government’s expenditure patterns, particularly when it comes to government machinery, don’t necessarily reflect a government that is cautious about spending."
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions regarding the budget’s potential impact on the country's economy and its citizens.
The 2025 budget has sparked intense debate, with various stakeholders examining its ability to address key national challenges, including economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare.
