Director of EKGS Culinary Institute, Efua Goode-Arthur has petitioned government to include a hospitality module in the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) and also wave taxes on culinary items. She said this would help in the employment of students who graduate from the hospitality institutes and also make it less costly for graduands who want to establish themselves using the right cooking tools. Mrs Goode-Arthur was speaking at the 25th Graduation ceremony of 116 graduands from the EKGS Institute last Saturday at the National Theatre. It was on the theme: Sustaining A Middle Income Status – The Role of the Hospitality Industry. Out of the 116 graduands, 115 were females and one male student. Eight graduands received certificates of merit in Wilton Method of Cake Decoration in areas such as sugar craft, cake making, pastry theory, cookery theory, balloon, ribbon and floral art. One of the graduands, Dorcas Anokye was awarded as the most well-groomed student while Mabel Tay was awarded for her dedication to all courses. Berlinda Bediako-Dakyi won the overall best student award.
