President Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to judge him by his performance in the last four years in determining who leads the country in the December 7, polls.
He is convinced he has delivered on the promises made to the electorates in the lead up to the 2016 elections.
Cutting sod for a new 400-bed capacity regional hospital for Tema, President Akufo-Addo said his government is committed to universal health coverage that will ensure access to quality care.
"We're taking another step towards another extremely important objective of our country. That is to guarantee Universal Health Coverage for every single Ghanaian. That we will have access to good quality healthcare for every single Ghanaian," he said.
The new hospital expected to be completed in two years is part of a 160 million euros funding also for the Nkoranza general hospital in the Bono East Region and the reconstruction of burnt medical stores at Tema.
Upon completion the Tema Hospital will boost of six operational theaters, intensive care unit, pharmacy and housing facilities for staff among others.
Deputy Health Minister, Bernard Oko-Boye is optimistic that the facility will address the health needs of the metropolis.
"I am so excited because this particular project has been on the drawing board forever a decade. Nine years ago, when I was working here, I was told that very soon we will stop keeping our women on the corridor and that the hospital will come.
"Eight years of NDC administration, the hospital never arrived. But today we are here to see the commencement of the project," he said.
The President earlier cut sod for the construction of a similar health facility at Kpone.
