Ghanaian weightlifter, Emmanuel Amo Boateng, secured three gold medals in the boys’ 71kg division at the African Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship at the Gamashie Hall, in Accra, .
Amo Boateng claimed top spot in both the snatch and clean & jerk events to become the first athlete to win gold for Ghana at the competition.
His performance contributed to Ghana’s overall haul of 13 medals, comprising six gold, one silver and six bronze.
Speaking to JoySports after his victory, Amo Boateng described the achievement as a major milestone in his career, especially after recovering from an injury in December.
“It hasn’t been easy, it’s been tough, the training, but because we have good equipment and coaching, everything has been fine,” he said.
“Personally, this is a very big milestone for me because I came from injury, so I had to prove to myself that I got this. Winning these medals is very big for me,” he added.
