The Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) is due to hold the 2015 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) Night for the year 2015 in October.
The Maiden Edition was held on 6th December 2014 at the State House Banquet Hall, Accra.
President of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, Kwaku Boampong, said many Engineers and Non-Engineers as professionals working in both the public and private sectors of Ghana continue to play an important role in shaping our environment and promoting sustainable development.
He said these engineers as professionals need to be appreciated for their efforts and contributions in maintaining the integrity of good engineering practice amidst competing development interest and challenging situations in Ghana, especially, floods, fire and collapse of buildings.
“The EEA of the GhIE has been established to reflect on and recognize the valuable contributions that individuals and organizations make, to inspire their continued involvement and those of others, and to promote the key role of the engineering profession in public life, whilst ensuring that our members become accountable to their works.
“It recognizes valuable contributions and extraordinary performance in all aspects of the engineering professions and a strong awareness of the profession among related professions, all sectors and the general public”, he added.
All nominations received so far are being reviewed by a panel and successful nominees will be communicated to by October 15, 2015.
The winners for the awards will receive specially designed award and citation of recognition to mark their achievements.
This years’ awards will be held under the theme “Engineers, rise up to reconstruct the Nation”.
