FC Nordsjaelland have strengthened the “unity” in their squad after spending five days in Ghana for a cultural exchange program.
The Danish side, who arrived on December 7 toured around parts of the country as a way to boost team spirit across the diverse culture in the squad.
Nordsjaelland visited the Fodzoku community for school engagement, where they participated in the traditional 'Agbaza' dance including assistant coach and Ghanaian legend Michael Essien.
One of the highlights was also a visit to James Town in Accra, a community famed for its rich boxing heritage and toured around including making a stop at the Bronx Boxing Gym.
The team also joined in local games and spent time with students at the Right to Dream Academy.
For first-timer Benjamin Nygren, the interaction with the kids left an unforgettable impression.
"It's been an amazing experience coming here [Ghana]," he said in an interview with JoySports.
"To see the academy, the kids and to see where many of my teammates come from, where they grew up and to just talk to the kids, see them train is unbelievable."
Head Coach Jens Olsen is confident that the exchange program will enhance the squad's unity.
"I think it is important for our team in the education of the individual player to see what differences there is in world, to unite them, and create a strong football team and also develop them as people."
Nordsjaelland are back in Denmark to continue preparation for the resumption of the Danish League.
They continue to be one of Europe’s premier clubs for developing top talent, producing stars like Mohammed Kudus and Simon Adingra.
