Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Ghana’s Minister for Finance, has called on staff at the Legon Tax Service Centre to adopt a more proactive approach to tax collection, emphasising the crucial role of revenue in national development.
Speaking during a recent engagement with the team, Dr Forson urged officers to take ownership of their targets and actively work to expand the tax net.
“I charged the officers to take ownership of their targets and be deliberate in expanding the tax net,” he said.

He stressed that effective tax mobilisation is vital for funding public services and sustaining development initiatives across the country.
“Ghana needs the revenue, and the work they do is critical to funding public services and driving national development,” Dr Forson noted.

The Finance Minister also highlighted the importance of discipline, focus, and commitment in achieving the nation’s revenue targets.
“With focus, discipline, and commitment, we can mobilise the resources required to support growth, deliver essential services, and secure a stronger future for our country,” he added.

Dr Forson encouraged all tax officers to approach their work with diligence and a sense of responsibility, stressing that enhanced revenue collection will underpin economic stability and improve the quality of life for all Ghanaians.
