The overlord of the Ga traditional area in the Greater Accra Region, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, awarded scholarships to pupils from selected Ga communities.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru through the Ga Mantse Foundation, granted scholarships worth GH₵100,000 to 100 deserving pupils from schools across various basic schools.

The scholarships, which cover tuition fees, stationery, and footwear, were awarded to students from the Independence Avenue 1 and 2 Basic Schools, Accra Sempe Basic School, Odartey Lamptey & 28th February Road Basic Schools, Richard Akwei Memorial Basic School, and Amamomo 3 Primary.
Other beneficiary schools include Adedeinkpo 1 & 2 Primary, Central Mosque A & B Primary, and Ayalolo 3 Primary.

According to the Ga Mantse Palace, the initiative is in fulfillment of a promise made by the Ga Mantse during the 7th Kinka Blonya celebration earlier this year. The King believes education is a vital tool for the development of the Ga State and aims to provide the necessary support to pupils.

Nathaniel Nee Lante Bruce, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ga Mantse Foundation, speaking during the brief ceremony where the scholarships were awarded, urged the pupils to “work hard and embrace this opportunity to change your lives”.

He added, “The scholarships reflect King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s dedication to improving the lives of children in Ga communities. By investing in education, the Ga Mantse is fostering a new generation of leaders equipped to drive development in the Ga State. This initiative highlights the King’s belief that every child deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of their circumstances.”

Bruce also reminded the beneficiaries that education is a powerful tool for progress and called on teachers and headteachers to play their role in nurturing the next generation for both the Ga State and the country at large.
Mrs Ivy Justine Apawu, the Accra Metro Director of Education, expressed gratitude for the King’s support at the event. She noted that initiatives like this help remove barriers to education and offer a brighter future for students.

The event also showcased the vibrant culture of the Ga people, with performances including poetry recitals and a choreography.
