German Ambassador Dr. Marius Haas met pupils from Achimota High School and German Swiss International School (GSIS)for a day of education, play and interaction at his residence on June 1, 2010.
The aim of the meeting was to bring together pupils from GSIS, a
bilingual German and English school, supported by the German and Swiss government, with Achimota High School.
The latter one is part of a worldwide network of "German Partner
Schools" which receive funding from Germany to support German language training. A German Pavilion, funded by Germany, was built at Achimota High School in 2009.
"I hope this event will lead to increased interaction between pupils
from different countries and horizons to foster mutual understanding,
learning and cooperation between Germany, Switzerland and Ghana. There will surely be a follow up," underlined Ambassador Haas.
Teachers from both schools including GSIS headmaster Stefano Caflisch
and Mrs. Rebecca Baiden, Patron of German Club at Achimota School, were present at the event.
