The Ghana Football Association is saddened to learn of the passing of James Essien, the father of Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien.
James, who played for Accra Hearts of Oak, had a particular passion for Ghana football and his death is a loss to Ghana football.
To Michael, your strength in these trying times is inspiring.
We know the loss of your father is not easy to deal with. But the way your are handling it and helping your family is truly amazing.
You, your family and the Accra Hearts of Oak fraternity are all in our thoughts at this difficult time.
God will definitely show you the way to smiling again.
Signed
Kwesi Nyantakyi
President
Ghana Football Association
