The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially opened applications for the 2025/2026 intake into the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), announcing full requirements for prospective candidates seeking careers in the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The recruitment drive is targeting highly qualified individuals for various specialised officer roles, with online submissions running until the deadline of Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
Eligibility and Core Requirements
The official notice emphasises strict eligibility criteria for all applicants:
- Citizenship and Character: Only Ghanaian citizens by birth are eligible, and applicants must be of good character.
- Physical and Medical Standards: Candidates must be medically fit in line with GAF standards and be able to pass the pre-joining fitness assessment.
- Marital Status and Age (Regular Officer Cadet): Applicants for the Regular Officer Cadet course must be unmarried, not bonded, and must be between 18 and 26 years old by March 31, 2026.
- Height Requirements: The minimum height requirement remains 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.60m (5’2”) for females. Higher standards apply for specialist units like the Military Police.
Academic Qualifications: Focus on STEM and Verifiability
GAF has stressed that academic results must be genuine and verifiable.
Applicants must possess six credits at BECE, WASSCE, or SSSCE, including English, Mathematics, and Science, or an equivalent combination of GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels.
Crucially, the notice stressed that “transcripts or attestations will not be accepted at the documentation stage,” underscoring the requirement for original certificates. Most specialist roles require a first degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited institution.
