As the nation prepares for its 50th anniversary celebrations, lots of events are expected to get people involved. Point Blank Media Concept (P.B.M.C), producers of Tentacles, Broadway, I Stand Accused and others have taken to events organising. ‘Laugh and Rock’, the first event to be organised by P.B.M.C is described by the C.E.O Theophilus Akatugba as “a massive live comedy and musical show ever to hit this nation. In fact it will be paradigm shift from the usual comedy shows hosted in the last couple of months”. Comedians expected on the bill are Koo Fori, Klint Da Drunk, Gordon, David, Oscar, AX, and Pastor Goody Goody. Obrafour, Samimi, Latoya, Orlando Julius, Castro will also be present to dish out some music. The show comes off at the National Theatre on 10th March, 2007. P.B.M.C is planning another event ‘Dance Blast’. This is primarily a female dance competition. This show is to move the women into the public eye and to promote dance to unite, inform as well as educate Ghanaians using the women as a tool. The event will start from 31st March through to the 2nd of June 2007. The final event to select the best female waist-wriggling champ will be held on 30th June 2007 at the National Theatre. P.B.M.C is also presenting a gift to Ghanaian musicians to save them from ‘payola’ with a new music channel called ‘Sound City’. This is a subsidiary of the parent company in Nigeria. “It seeks to promote Ghanaian music beyond Ghana” says Theo. Point Blank Media Concept’s package is unending. They are working on 6 feature films to give more variety to their usual production. P.B.M.C faces one major difficulty - the poor marketing outlet for feature films in Ghana It has therefore decided to open the ‘Ghana Video Distribution Network’ to enhance the marketing, sale and distribution of Ghanaian films.
