The Ghana government has disparaged the circumstances under which Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed.
He was captured in his home region of Sirte, tortured and shot Thursday with his lifeless body dragged on the floor by rebel forces.
His death has sparked mixed reactions from world leaders. Whilst the US and the UK governments welcomed the killing, Zimbabwe has condemned it.
On Friday a Deputy Information Minister in Ghana Baba Jamal told Joy News “the capture and torture of Gaddafi defies logic.”
He said even though the Ghana government has recognised the legitimacy of National Transitional Council it thought the Council could have done a lot better in safe guarding the human rights of the former Libyan Leader.
Jamal said Gaddafi was entitled to fair trial, adding, human rights and international law ought to have been followed.
He described the situation as “sad for Africans” insisting Gaddafi ought to have been given the opportunity to tell his story.
