Ghana’s trade relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is expected to improve significantly as diplomats from the two countries conclude discussions at a joint commission meeting to be held in August.
The meeting would also finalize the bilateral investment treaty, which seeks to guide the trade and investment between the two countries.
According to Ghana’s Ambassador to Tehran, the treaty would ensure that the investments of businesses from both countries enjoy some form of protection.
Ahmed Hassan disclosed this to Joy Business when he interacted with officials of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre-led trade delegation currently touring the Middle East at the Ghana Mission in Tehran.
He also talks about a 700 million dollar grant Ghana is seeking from the Exim Guarantee Bank of Iran.
“For the first time Ghana is talking seriously about the Exim Bank facility and how we can access that facility.”
"At this particular session we have done all the work that is necessary and I am very certain that a number of agreement will be concluded and a number of Ghanaian banks, institutions and individual companies with Iranian partnership will be able to access this facility," he said.
