The Acting Director of the Ghana Institute of Journalism Mr. Kweku Rockson has been sacked.
Sources close to Joy News indicate a letter by the Minister of Education, Mr. Alex Tettey Enyo asked Mr. Rockson to step aside.
No reasons have been given for his dismissal.
Mr. David Newton, the former Director, who is currently a lecturer of the institute, is to take over as acting Director.
Mr. Newton served in a similar capacity for a decade before handing over to Rockson.
Rockson's dismissal comes on the heels of the 50th Anniversary Celebration launched on Tuesday.
Tettey Enyo was Special Guest of Honour at the Institute's 50th Anniversary launch Tuesday, during which the dismissed director spoke about programmes to make the institute a centrepiece for the subregion.
