The Global Evangelical Church last Saturday, August 8, 2015, undertook its executive elections by electronic voting.
The executives are expected to lead the church worldwide for the next six years.
The exercise, the first ever for a church in Ghana, saw 612 delegates electing the Moderator in just 29 minutes.
In another 37 minutes, the delegates elected the Synod Clerk, Male Presbyter and Female Presbyter in a combined election. The process was facilitated by eVoteMinder.com.
The Synod elected Rev. Dr. S. K. Ofori as Moderator with 229 votes (40.82% of votes cast), Rev. R.M.K. Attih as Synod Clerk with 375 votes (64.10% of votes cast), Mrs. Christie Bobobee with 244 votes (41.50% of votes cast) as Female Presbyter and Prof. R. K. Adosraku with 308 votes (52.92 of votes cast) as Male Presbyter.
“I must confess the voting was good because it went on fast and it was simple” remarked Rt. Rev. Dr. Edem Tettey, Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church.
On why the church went evoting, Rev. Kwasi Novieto, Director of Administration and Human Resources Management of the church said “We chose eVoteMinder.com because of the track record that they have that we are aware of. The election was very successful. I believe electronic voting is the way forward so if we go evoting, I think we are towing the right path”.
