The 2026 Gomoa Easter Carnival has officially begun, with a colourful lineup of activities kicking off today, Thursday, April 2, across selected communities in the Central Region.

The four-day festival, spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known in entertainment circles as A Plus, is set to run until April 5.
The event is expected to attract thousands of revellers, tourists, creatives, and business operators, positioning Gomoa as a key destination on Ghana’s festive calendar.

After weeks of intense preparation and anticipation, the launch of the carnival marks the beginning of what organisers describe as a major cultural and economic showcase.
Beyond entertainment, the festival is designed to spotlight the rich traditions of the Gomoa area while driving tourism, creating jobs, and stimulating local commerce within the Central Region.

Opening day activities are expected to set the tone for the celebration, with an evening Bonfire Night scheduled at the Crown Forest Resort.
The event will offer patrons a relaxed, scenic setting to ease into the festivities, complete with music, social interactions, and a festive ambience under the night sky.
A torchlight procession is also planned, adding a symbolic and visually striking start to the carnival, as participants move through designated routes in a display of unity and celebration.
Over the next three days, the Gomoa Easter Carnival will feature an exciting mix of entertainment and cultural programming. These include live performances from some of Ghana’s top musical acts alongside rising talents, cultural dance displays, traditional drumming, and heritage showcases that reflect the identity of the Gomoa people.

Entertainers billed for the event include Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Kofi Nti, Kofi Kinaata, Samini, K.K.Fosu, Ofori Amponsah, Kwanpa, Dada Hafco, Bisa, Tinny, Kwaw Kese, Keche, Obrafour, Sista Afia, Kwame Eugene, Amerado, Okyeame Kwame & Nero X.
Patrons can also look forward to food bazaars highlighting local and continental cuisine, art exhibitions featuring Ghanaian creatives, street jams, beachside activities, and a grand durbar expected to bring together chiefs, opinion leaders, and key stakeholders in the area.
Organisers say the carnival is not only about celebration but also about creating a sustainable platform for youth engagement, creative expression, and economic empowerment. Local vendors, artisans, and small businesses are expected to benefit significantly from the influx of visitors, with increased sales and networking opportunities.
Security agencies and local authorities have also been engaged to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all participants, as crowds continue to build across event venues.
With its blend of culture, music, tourism, and community spirit, the Gomoa Easter Carnival is steadily gaining recognition as one of Ghana’s most exciting Easter events, offering a unique experience for anyone looking to explore the country’s vibrant traditions and festive energy.
