President Akufo Addo has cut sod for the extension of the five District Water project to Adaklu in the Volta Region and its adjoining districts.
During the ceremony, the president said the Adaklu water project when completed would result in an increase in water coverage in the region by 6%.
It will also help reduce the time used in searching for water and therefore relieving especially women and children from the burden, he added.
“Government will not relent in its efforts to increase access to water for all, a 2016 NPP manifesto commitment which remains a key priority,” he told the people of Adaklu.
President Akufo-Addo noted that government will continue to create an enabling environment through the provision of social infrastructure in the rural communities.
This, he explained, will attract more investors to the areas, adding, they will take advantage of flagship programs like One District One Factory and build more factories which will, in turn, create employment for the youth.
"While government is commited to living up to its social responsibility, we expect that beneficiary communities contribute their quota to ensure the sustainability of these services," President Akufo-Addo added.
Also at the ceremony, the Paramount Chief of Adaklu, Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V commended the president and his government for his development projects especially the ongoing construction of 26-kilometre road started from Akuettey to Adaklu Waya which is now being tarred.
Torgbega Gbobi Atsa v appealed to government to consider creating a pasture bank in Adaklu as done Afram Plains to help solve the problem of the menace of normadic cattle grazing in the area
