The second round of the Ghana Premier League kicked off over the weekend across eight match centres with one game still to come
On Friday King Faisal snatched a late 2-1 victory over struggling WAFA in Sogakope while Hearts of Oak were held to a 1-1 against Legon Cities at the El Wak Sports Stadium.
On Sunday, Asante Kotoko, after a disappointing turnout in the opening half, beat Dreams FC 2-0 as Franck Mbella Etouga bagged a brace.
Bechem United did little match up Kotoko’s win as they were beaten by Medeama SC with a 1-0 scoreline in Tarkwa.
The results for the top two teams on the league table now means the Porcupine Warriors now extend their lead at the top of the standings after 18 games.
Elsewhere, Aduana Stars returned to winning ways as they ended Karela United’s four-game unbeaten run with a 2-0 scoreline thanks to a brace from Bright Agyei, who also continued from where he left off in the first round.
Ashanti Gold suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Eleven Wonders, who thumped the Obuasi-based side with a 4-1 scoreline away from home.
Berekum Chelsea also saw off debutants Bibiani Gold Stars at the Golden City Park in Berekum, managing a 1-0 victory.
