Residents in the Greater Accra Region will soon be required to clean their own frontage and surroundings under new by-laws to be passed by assemblies within the region.
This, according to the Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, aims at involving inhabitants of the region to embrace fully and participate in the Make Accra Great Again agenda.
Under the 'Operation clean your frontage', initiative, Mr Quartey said “everybody will be responsible for their frontage."
He noted that for Accra to work again, there is a need for a collective effort, and “change people’s attitude about the environment.”
“It is, therefore, important to engage in constant education, enforcement of our bi-laws and also having all hands on deck,” he added.
The Minister announced the plan at an ongoing program to outdoor 100 high capacity trucks to deal with the unsanitary conditions in the capital.
He commended the Jospong Group of Companies and its affiliates for their endless efforts in the fight.
Chief Executive of Jospong Group of companies, Joseph Siaw Agyapong, on his part, said Ghana leads the rest of Africa in the provision of waste recycling plants.
According to him, there are currently 41 across the country, and if well utilised, they can help the president’s vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa at the end of his term in office.
