The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central has advised that government institutes a partial lockdown to minimise the spread of novel coronavirus.
Kennedy Agypong's call comes hours after government's latest announcement of 25 more confirmed cases Tuesday, taking the country's tally to 52.
The legislator argued that commercial vehicles, popularly known as 'trotro' also serve as fertile breeding grounds for the spread of COVID-19.
Mr Agyepong entreated the government to temporarily suspend their operations as a precautionary measure.
He was addressing the media at the forecourt of Kencity at Madina where he donated medical supplies including 2000 beds to the Health Ministry.

So far, some 1,300 travellers are on mandatory quarantine in Ghana since the President’s last national address when he announced the closure of all borders as part of steps targeted at preventing the spread of the virus.

Ghana now has recorded a total of 52 confirmed COVID-19 cases, awaiting results of the remaining 160 samples.
The MP described as scary, the exponential nature the country's cases are turning out.
"We are joking," he said.
Responding to a question on the potential impact of a lockdown on the economy, the MP said, "we have to do a partial lockdown for the meantime and if the situation escalates, we have to have a total lockdown."
He urged the administration to prioritise the safety and right to life of Ghanaians over the economic gains.
"The world's economy is collapsing but we can bounce back if the people are healthy," he said.
Items donated by the MP includes 100,000 pieces of face masks, gloves, and sanitizers to Frontline workers and first responders.
The items are expected to be distributed to all 16 regions with a chunk of it going to the capital of Accra.
