Heritage Africa, a new reality show has set its eyes on whipping up interest in cultural activities which over the years has dwindled.
The reality show, under the theme: 'Projecting our culture through drum and dance', is the brain child of Clecomax Multimedia and it is in collaboration with the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relation and the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana.
The show was launched in November last year with 500 individuals going through the audition.
Judges, Zapp Mallet, a sound Engineer, Nii Amoo, Director of National Dance Company and Martin Quansah, President of Association of Performing Arts, Legon selected the final ten couples out of the 500 after they were tasked to perform dances from Ghana.
The selected 10, Agbe, Gye Nyame, Ahenemma, Agoromma, Natsui, Sapa, Ruko, Adehyie, Zadonu and Omaka were groomed at the National Theatre for four months till they were out-doored at the Goethe Institute in September.
The final 10 are gearing up for a ten-week head-to-head television show that will see the eventual eviction of six with the remaining four heading for the finale at the National Theatre come 2011.
The weekly show will see the ten perform dances from the ten regions of Ghana and Africa and also educating the general public on the dances and its costumes.
The winner will walk away with GH¢2 , 000 and products from sponsors while the second and third will get GH¢ 1, 500 and GH¢ 1, 000 respectively with products from sponsors.
