Insurance firm Hollard Ghana as part of its corporate social responsibility has renovated the Al Waleed Basic School at Kanda. The school was in a deplorable state and was not conducive for teaching and learning.
The deplorable state of some schools in Ghana impedes efforts to improve on quality education.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of the facility, Managing Director of Hollard Ghana, Nashiru Iddrisu said the company recognizes the importance of the educational development of its clients hence the gesture.
Mr. Nashiru Iddrisu added that the company is not only interested in doing business and making profits but is also interested in impacting lives in the society.
“As a social enterprise, we don’t only do business but we impact lives, our purpose basically is to enable more people to secure better futures. Basically, we strive as a social enterprise when we see the communities in which we operate also striving well,” he said.
Hollard Ghana is an insurance company that caters for personal, business and commercial insurance issues.
Headmaster of the school, Martin Kpadenu added that the renovation of the school building and the provision of books and learning materials will help to improve on the performance of students.
“When children learn in a good environment, they learn better and automatically, it will lead to an improvement in their academic performance. Library books have been provided for them and teaching aids have also been provided so we are expecting a very good performance, he added.
Hollard Ghana said it will continue to support educational development in the country. The renovation of the school building costs over two hundred thousand Ghana cedis.
