Dennis Miracles Aboagye, aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed strong views on the ongoing standoff between the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile programme on Saturday, 7th June, Aboagye said if he were in Ofori-Atta’s position and unwell, he would prefer to stay abroad and face trial in absentia.
“If I were Ken, and seeing all that has been done and I am not well, I wouldn’t come. I will prefer to stay and be tried in absentia. I wouldn’t mind you putting me on INTERPOL red notice,” he stated.
The OSP recently declared Ken Ofori‑Atta wanted after he missed the deadline to appear before the office on June 2.
Despite his legal team submitting medical documents citing cancer, the OSP reinstated his wanted status and began steps to request an INTERPOL Red Notice.
On 5th June, Ofori-Atta was officially listed on INTERPOL’s Red Notice database, which includes details such as his age, physical description, and languages spoken.
