Ghanaian footballers Inaki Williams and Abdul Mumin have been nominated for the 2024/25 La Liga African Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Williams, who won the award last season, has recorded six goals and six assists for Athletic Bilbao this term.
His performance has been instrumental in the club’s pursuit of UEFA Champions League qualification, with Bilbao sitting fourth on the league table with 64 points.
He also played a key role in helping the team reach the semi-finals of the Europa League.
Meanwhile, central defender Mumin, who features for Rayo Vallecano, had a standout season before being sidelined by a knee injury.
The 24-year-old made 24 league appearances, scored two goals, provided one assist, and contributed to six clean sheets.
His performances earned him the Rayo Player of the Month award earlier in the season.
The Ghanaian duo are among 20 nominees from 13 African countries. The selection process involves fan voting from Sub-Saharan Africa and assessments by a panel of 25 African sports journalists.
Other contenders for the award include Reinildo Mandava and Flavien Enzo Boyomo. Voting closes on 14 May, with the winner set to be announced on 25 May, Africa Day.
