The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Ghana) has marked its 23rd-anniversary celebration with the Dzorwulu Special School. 

The Institute donated items such as toiletries, bags of rice, biscuits, drinks, beverages, cooking oil and other functionaries to the Dzorwulu Special School.

The Chief Executive of IoD-Gh, Fred Aryeetey presenting the items said the donation was in response to the needs assessment of the School.

Since 1999, the Institute has impacted the local corporate governance Landscape, promoting ethical leadership through advocacy for good practice with support from its partners. 

Mr Aryeetey, a Fellow of the IoD-Gh, stated that the IoD-Gh chose the Dzorwulu Special School two years in a row due to the students' special needs adding that he is hopeful that it would contribute to making the students vital members of society.

"Government is doing its best to support the school but as a special school, they have special needs, so that is why individuals and corporate organisations such as IoD-Gh must support them.

"IoD-Gh will continue to visit this great and special school and we support how the teachers and headmaster run the school and we are very happy with that. We believe that the students will learn and grow and become influential citizens of this country."

Receiving the items on behalf of the students, the Headmaster of the school, Frederick Tetteh urged other organisations to donate to other special schools across the country.

He also disclosed that currently, the school has 205 students and a staff strength of 44.

The Code would serve as a unified national corporate governance reference for good Corporate Governance for all stakeholders in the country, and also enhance Ghana’s global appeal as an investment destination, provide clarity, inclusiveness, harmony and synergy, and boost investor interest and confidence as the harmonised Code is expected to be in conformity with international best practices.

The IoD-Gh is committed to continue to play a key role in ensuring that both State-Owned Enterprises (SoEs) and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) become competitive and viable and especially for family-owned businesses to live beyond their first generation.

The Institute takes this opportunity to remind the leadership of organisations to provide ethical leadership and maintain focus on the tenets of good Corporate Governance such as Accountability, Fairness, Integrity, Responsibility and Transparency.
