The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Alhaj Mohammed Baba Jamal, has urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to step up public education on the street naming and property addressing system.
He said this was necessary to help the public to understand the exercise better and to win their cooperation for a smooth implementation.
Alhaji Baba Jamal was speaking at a two-day regional training workshop on the street naming and property addressing system, organized by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in Kumasi.
In attendance were over 60 regional Coordinating Directors, Economic Planning Officers, Surveyors and Town and Country Officers, from across the 10 regions.
The workshop provided the platform to discuss and share information on ways of ensuring that they played their expected supervisory roles efficiently towards the success of the project.
Alhaji Baba Jamal urged them to place their technical expertise at the disposal of the assemblies, and underlined his Ministry’s determination to provide the needed support for the project at all levels.
Mr. Samuel Yaw Adusei, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, urged the assemblies “to get straight to business” and implement the project to foster the development of the communities.
“Its importance should not be lost on anybody and that should stir you up to work hard to achieve success,” he added.
