The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on the Nkwanta township in the Oti Region.
According to the Ministry, the curfew was imposed on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument.
In a press statement signed by the Chief Director of the Ministry, on Tuesday, January 21, the Ministry announced that the curfew would commence from 8:00 pm – 6:00 am effective Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
“Government wishes to appeal to all to exercise restraint and to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes," part of the statement read.
Additionally, the Ministry stated that there is a total ban on all persons in Nkwanta Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons.
“Any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”
