The International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) has inducted Ghana’s Professor Joshua Alabi, Rector of the Institute of Professional Studies as a member of its Executive Committee and chairman for the West African Region.
The induction took place at the 17th Triennial world congress of University Presidents, Rectors and Vice-Chancellors in New York, United States of America.
The IAUP is an association of heads of regionally accredited universities all over the world.
It consists of 600 members from 100 countries worldwide including United States of America, Japan, Australia, Great Britain and Iran among a host others which have collaborated to ensure that universities support and reinforce cultural diversity because that is vital for sustaining development of personal identity, social cohesion and human creativity.
It was founded by some university leaders from the US, South Korea, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Liberia, in recognition of the need for an organization which is ideologically and politically independent to better promote peace and international understanding through education.
The IAUP thus seeks to promote dialogue, tolerance, understanding, international justice as well as quality education to support sustainable development in a context of global competence.
