Former Ghana Black Starlets head coach, Laryea Kingston, says he is proud to have played a part in the development of the current crop of players representing the country in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations.
Kingston, who announced his resignation as the gaffer of the team following their 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Africa Cup of Nations took his WhatsApp status to express his delight at working with the team.
Ghana failed to advance into the final of the competition which also serves as a qualifier to the next U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
During the post-match press conference, the former Black Stars winger announced his decision to resign from his role as the head coach adding his reasons will come later.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) noted the decision by Kingston with a game still left to be played in the competition in a statement on Sunday.
Kingston was accused of using 'inappropriate language' and going AWOL as he refused to turn up for post-match team meeting with management and technical team.
However, in his post on his WhatsApp status, he appears to have no grudges with the FA, saying, "...long Live GFA," while acknowledging how amazing the boys are.
"Love you guys so much son," he wrote.

The former Right To Dreams U-18 message was in response to a post by the captain of the team, Benjamin Tsivanyo, who described him as a father.
"Much love father," he reposted with a picture of himself and Kingston.

Ghana will face Nigeria in the third-place playoff of the competition on May 28.
The Starlets can still qualify for the 2025 CAF U-17 Cup of Nations as the continental governing body would decided how many countries can qualify from each zone to the tournament because of the expanded FIFA U-17 World Cup.
