Buem Member of Parliament (MP), Kofi Adams, has emphasised the crucial pursuit of gender equality, urging Ghanaians to actively champion this cause.
In a statement issued on March 8, to commemorate International Women's Day, he stressed the necessity of translating aspirations for gender equality into tangible realities rather than mere aspirations.
Highlighting the indispensable roles women play in society, Mr Adams underscored the importance of respecting and acknowledging their contributions.
He noted that women have increasingly emerged as trailblazers, setting examples for others to follow, particularly the younger generation.
Mr Adams urged Ghanaians and all stakeholders to renew their commitment to advancing gender equality.
The former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stressed that societal progress is intricately linked to the empowerment and equal treatment of women.
The press statement also emphasised the need for collective action to dismantle barriers to gender equality, ensuring equal opportunities and representation for women in all spheres of life.
Mr Adams's message resonates with the ongoing global efforts to promote gender equality and underscores the importance of concerted action to achieve tangible progress in this vital area.
“In celebrating International Women's Day under the theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ we recognise the need to break down barriers, challenge biases, and create opportunities for all women to thrive.”
“It is a reminder that true progress can only be achieved when we embrace diversity, foster inclusivity, and empower women from all walks of life.”
“As we look to the future, let us recommit ourselves to building a Country where gender equality is not just an aspiration but a reality. Let us work together to inspire inclusion, amplify women's voices, and ensure that every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential,” excerpts of his statement read.
