Jobberman Ghana and leading agribusiness firm, Agri-Impact Limited, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and other organisations, including the Kosmos Innovation Center, recently hosted a two-day career fair and employment forum in Accra.
The event, titled “Beyond the Fields: Exploring Agribusiness and Job Opportunities for Young People,” aimed to demystify misconceptions in the agriculture sector and connect young people to its growing opportunities.
Held from August 28-29, 2024, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the fair was part of the second edition of the Agricultural Innovation for Africa (AIA) Conference. It aimed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, provide insights into opportunities in the agricultural sector, and enhance young professionals' skills to meet job market demands.

Georgina Ama Gyan, Gender and Safeguarding Manager at Agri-Impact Limited, one of the speakers at the fair, touched on the transformative opportunities provided by the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program. Ama Gyan highlighted the program's significant impact on enhancing employment prospects for young people, especially women and individuals with disabilities.
The HAPPY Program is a Mastercard Foundation initiative in partnership with Agri-Impact Limited, targeted at securing dignified jobs for 326,000 youth within Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The program is being implemented by eight partners: NewAge Agric Solutions, National Service Scheme (NSS), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), TechnoServe, Ghana Cares (MiDA), Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), and Jobberman.

Another speaker, Mr. Abraham Sarfo, a Value Chain and Enterprises Development Specialist at Agri-Impact Limited, also highlighted the diverse opportunities within the agricultural value chain, emphasizing the importance of capacity building and skills development.
Additionally, Jobberman’s team offered individualised support to job seekers through one-on-one consultations and CV reviews to align their profiles with industry standards.

Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with various employers and industry leaders, gaining valuable insights into career paths and sector-specific demands.
Hundreds of youth participated in the fair.
