The Joy Business Masterclass 13 Week Series on agribusiness commenced on Joy FM on August 7, 2024.
The first edition featured the CEO of Count on Crops Hub, Enyonam Manye. Talking about the basic steps to start agribusiness, she highlighted the viability of the sector to the economy as a whole, and households in particularly.
She explained that households and individuals can venture into agribusiness on small, medium and large scale levels depending on available investment.
She pointed out that it is important to carefully consider which sub-sector to venture in, looking at the value chain.
“Agriculture is a very rewarding career that if you do it well it will pay off. Every industry or profession has its own principle. So you need to know the profession of agribusiness before you venture into it”.
She stated that Ghana has many fertile and arable lands that support crop production and animal farming.
Emphasizing the importance to do an assessment before entering, Ms. Manye said agriculture must be seen as a business.
“Agriculture is a viable business. There are many components under the sub-sectors. Crop production has vegetable production. There is also livestock faming and then the aquaculture”, she said.
