The National Insurance Commission (NIC) is gearing up for the upcoming JoySports Invitational Tournament with a strong message for its competitors.

Scheduled for October 26 at the University of Ghana Stadium, the event will see the NIC team, led by Acting Commissioner of Insurance Michael Kofi Andoh, determined to leave a lasting mark.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Mr. Andoh did not mince words about the NIC’s ambitions: "We are coming to the JoySports Invitational Tournament like 'kakai!' We will collect all the trophies, so get ready for us."

The NIC, the regulatory body responsible for protecting the interests of insurance policyholders in Ghana, is participating alongside many other corporate entities in this highly anticipated event.

Mr. Andoh shared the dual motivations behind NIC's involvement, citing both fitness and brand visibility as key drivers.

"We have signed up for the JoySports Invitational Tournament for a couple of reasons: to keep fit, especially because our workforce is very youthful.

"We want to ensure that our staff stays active and exercises," he explained.

""We also want to make our corporate identity known as the regulator of the insurance industry, and there is no better way to do that than by getting involved in corporate games like this."

The Acting Commissioner further emphasised the importance of the event for fostering teamwork, networking, and fair play.

"Let’s all get involved, let’s make it fair play, exercise, network, and get the best out of it. I believe it’s friendly, and I expect everyone to come on board so that we can enjoy the benefits that come with it."

In a lighthearted moment, Mr. Andoh, who humorously compared himself to the legendary Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Polo, made it clear that his team means business.

"No, I am not better than him," he joked, drawing laughter from his staff. "But we are going for the cup!"

Team captain, Michael Baodi Yeboah, claims he's been training with Barcelona as they prepare for the biggest corporate sports event in Ghana.

"I am the captain of the team so don't pay attention to my stomach. Pay attention to my fitness and my foot. Hansi Flick [Barcelona coach] told me to just work on my stomach because I have football IQ, so everyone should watch

With such confidence and enthusiasm from the NIC, participants in the JoySports Invitational Tournament are in for a fierce competition on October 26.
