The joy of receiving help when all hope is lost is often underrated. The feeling is simply indescribable. That is the story of 68-year-old Tsotsoo, who has received a significant number of donations after her story was shared on JoyNews.
Freda Deede Fianu, affectionately known as Tsotsoo, shared her struggles with poverty and hardship, which she had battled for years.
Born into poverty and facing countless setbacks, even when glimpses of hope appeared, her journey has been one of pain, resilience, and unwavering faith that, somehow, things would get better.
Her story of enduring harsh conditions while selling sachet water at the Circle lorry station caught the attention of many, prompting them to lend a helping hand.
As she shared her experiences, she expressed the need to stop hawking due to her advancing age. Her dream was simple: to start a small business selling dry spices and earthenware.
Her story spread widely—on television and across various social media platforms. In response, some individuals, who wished to remain anonymous, made generous donations. With the support she received, she was finally able to stop hawking. She gleamed with hope—her dreams were gradually coming to life.

The latest donation she received came from an anonymous donor who sent a delegation to make the presentation on his behalf.
The donation was received by the Head of Strategic Partnerships at the Multimedia Group, Emefa Atiamoah, who then presented it to Tsotsoo.
“Our boss sent us to bring this token to Tsotsoo, he saw her story and was touched,” one of them said.
As they handed her a white envelope containing GH₵5,000 in cash, Tsotsoo’s face reflected awe and disbelief, her eyes welling up with tears—the same kind she had shed when recounting her story.

“I can’t thank you enough for such a kind gesture, God bless you and your boss,” she said.
Turning to the woman among them, she added, “You’ll have twins when it’s time for you to give birth”.
