The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, believes Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as well as other sporting lows highlight the need to reset the country's sports sector.
Ghana has hit a new low as far as sports is concerned; missing out on the 2025 AFCON to be staged in Morocco as failing to impress at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The AFCON disappointment comes on the back of back-to-back group stage exits at the continental level.
The country, for the first time in a long while, failed to also present a boxer at the Olympics, with none of them securing qualification despite being involved in several qualifiers.
In his opening remarks at the 2025 JoySports National Sports Dialogue, Kofi Adams, hinted at the need to make changes to the country's sports sector.
"Our recent sporting performances highlight the urgency of this reset," the Minister said.
"Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco and our inability to send a single boxer to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games should not just be seen as disappointments but as a signal that our development system needs urgent attention."
The JoySports Dialogue had Right to Dream founder, Tom Vernon, international sports consultant, Magnus Rex Danquah, and former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe as speakers.
