The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reiterated the government's commitment to establishing a national sports fund to support associations and federations.
Funding in recent times has become a major challenge for sports associations and federations in the execution of their activities.
The Black Queens, the Badminton Association, the Cycling Federation, and a host of others have all complained about the lack of funds allocated to them in their operation.
As part of plans to cater for some of these challenges, the Minister has stressed the importance of the national sports fund.
"The NDC administration led by John Mahama is committed to establishing a national sports fund where revenue from sports betting, the national lottery, corporate sponsorship and tourism levies will be channelled directly into sports development," he said during the JoySports National Sports Dialogue on Thursday, March 13.
"In addition, we are working to expand broadcasting rights for local leagues, encouraging partnership with digital platforms to encourage monetising Ghanaian sports content."
The JoySports Dialogue had Right to Dream founder, Tom Vernon, international sports consultant, Magnus Rex Danquah, and former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe as speakers.
